In July 2008, the Mater Academy Foundation was established as a means to address a need whereby Mater students were lacking access, exposure and opportunity to participate in high-quality academic programming beyond the traditional K-12 classroom. Traditionally, the cycle of poverty among the population of students who attend Mater schools has persisted because children are faced with the challenge of overcoming the burdens of not only learning a new language, but also a whole new culture. Having limited access to improve their situation and lacking the opportunity to prosper academically, will more than likely impact a student’s earning potential as adults.
The Mater Academy Foundation strives to enrich the lives of Mater students, teachers and parents by providing scholarship for enhanced educational opportunities and funding for outreach.
Through annual fundraising events, such as uMater Campaign, the Foundation gives back 100% of net funds to benefit our students, teachers and families. We provide funding for college scholarships, summer enrichment grants, college tours, teacher mini-grants, educational field trips, uniform assistance, backpacks and school supplies, special projects and other community initiatives.
