MATER BRICKELL ACADEMY TO OPEN AUGUST 2022 IN MIAMI’S DOWNTOWN URBAN CORE
The nationally-acclaimed Mater Academy charter school network is opening Mater Brickell Academy (MBA). The charter school will serve the families of Miami’s Downtown Urban Core. Construction of the state-of-the-art facility is underway in the heart of Brickell. Located at 230 SW 17th Road, MBA is the newest public school built in the area in nearly 30 years.
Mater Brickell Academy is a place where technology, business, entrepreneurship, and education merge. The academic model combines academic excellence with innovation and discovery. Students will be at the forefront of their own education. Mater Academy operates many high-performing schools in Florida. Mater Academy has over 20 years of success in raising student achievement, earning five National Blue Ribbon School designations along the way.
A third of Mater's current high school students are in Mater's Dual Enrollment program. With a 98 percent graduation rate, more than 15 percent of Mater's seniors earned college degrees (AA's) while attending Mater. Nearly 40 percent earned college credits using Mater's Dual Enrollment program. MBA will bring this programming to Miami’s students.
Mater has partnered with organizations such as: Verizon, Samsung, Digital Promise, Apple, Project Lead the Way, VEX Robotics, Google, and others. These partnerships provide students with access to devices. Partners will provide high level training in STEM and business-related fields. MBA students will have front-row seats to experience the many possibilities in today's workforce. Mater is an institution created by the community for the community.
